The Commission Process

Submitting an inquiry initiates the process of commissioning an original oil painting. The objective is to ensure clarity, structure, and alignment from initial contact through final delivery.

Initial Inquiry
​
After an inquiry is received, a response is typically provided within 24–48 hours. Follow-up questions may address subject matter, dimensions, timeline, and any existing references or conceptual direction.
Fully developed ideas are not required at this stage. Many commissions begin with a general premise that is subsequently refined through discussion.

Consultation and Planning
​
Following the initial exchange, a consultation may be conducted via email, phone, or video call. This stage focuses on defining composition, tonal direction, scale, and contextual placement.
Recommendations are provided based on technical and aesthetic considerations to ensure the final direction is conceptually cohesive and visually sound.

Pricing, Timeline, and Scheduling
​
Once the scope of work is established, a detailed outline of pricing, payment structure, and projected timeline is provided.
A non-refundable $400 materials fee is required to secure scheduling and initiate the commission.
For time-sensitive projects (e.g., birthdays, anniversaries, or other milestones), timeline feasibility will be assessed and alternative measures may be offered (ie a preliminary sketch)

Painting Process
​
Sketch Phase: An initial compositional sketch is developed for review and approval prior to painting.
Base Tone Stage: After base tones are established, up to two revisions may be requested.
Final Stage: As the painting nears completion, up to two additional refinements may be requested to ensure alignment with the approved direction.
Progress updates are provided at key milestones.

Completion and Delivery
​
Upon completion, final shipping arrangements are coordinated. Shipping costs must be paid in full prior to release of the artwork.
All works are packed to professional standards. International shipments include appropriate customs documentation.
